Approximately 5,700 PIE&G services lost power yesterday as the region received significant accumulations of heavy, wet snow and ice. The majority of PIE&G’s outages occurred when Wolverine Power’s transmission lines were affected, causing power loss to approximately 3,200 services from the Beaver Lake, Hillman and Lewiston substations. Wolverine Power Cooperative crews were able to quickly restore power to the transmission line in about 45 minutes. However, PIE&G also experienced approximately 2,500 additional distribution outages mostly served by these three substations in its southern service territory. The cause was snow load and downed trees on lines.
Crews have restored all but around 133 services this afternoon. Tree removals in Beaver Lake, Hillman and Lewiston are taking more time, but crews will continue working to repair and restore service as quickly and as safely as possible. Thank you for your patience.
