Ready to upgrade or get rid of an old refrigerator or freezer?

Recycle it and save energy! Older, inefficient appliances can cost hundreds of dollars each year to operate. Schedule a free pick up for your outdated, functioning appliances and earn cash rebates.

What items qualify for pick up?
Full-size refrigerators and chest freezers are eligible for free pick up. If a truck is coming to your residence to retrieve one of these items, dehumidifiers and room air conditioners can also be sent for recycling as ride along items. Please notify the call center when scheduling your appointment if you have a room AC or dehumidifier you would like recycled. Limit: Two primary appliances and two ride along items per year.

How do I schedule an appointment?
Our Appliance Recycling program is seasonal and runs from April through October. The last date for 2024 recycling appointments is October 24th. Appointments are limited and should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Contact the PIE&G Energy Optimization team Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST at (877) 296-4319 to schedule an appointment.

With less overall maintenance, less emissions, and more convenience when it comes to fueling your vehicle, electric vehicles are the right choice for many families. Rebates are available for the purchase (leased vehicles are NOT eligible) of a new or used EV and ENERGY STAR-certified Level 2 chargers. Why should you consider an EV for your next car purchase?

Cheaper to operate
Charging an EV is cheaper than filling up a gasoline- or diesel-powered car, especially with PIE&G’s competitive rates. EVs also require less maintenance (no more oil changes!).

Environmentally-friendly
EVs have no exhaust coming from a tailpipe. And with PIE&G’s increasing carbon-free and renewable energy portfolios, charging an EV is cleaner than ever!

No more gas stations
Why stand outside in the elements at a gas station when you can just plug in your EV at home?

Performance
Electric motors are quieter, smoother, and zippier than gasoline-powered engines.

High electric bills or uncomfortable rooms in your home? A Home Energy Consultation provides an in-home review to discuss concerns, understand utility costs, and identify areas of improvement within your home.

An Energy Optimization representative will walk through your home with you using a checklist to indicate items that would help you save energy, and identifying equipment and appliance upgrade opportunities (most of which are rebate-eligible). As an added bonus, the Energy Optimization representative will install and/or provide energy-saving products. A follow up report will be provided after the visit that provides more information about recommended home improvements.
