5:00pm – Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op (PIE&G) crews have restored power to all but 170 services this afternoon. Crews are still working on repairs. In total, PIE&G has restored electricity to approximately 20,000 services since the Christmas Eve wind storm. PIE&G crews were assisted by mutual aid line workers from around the state and all personnel worked throughout the holiday and all weekend.
PIE&G is still working to get all remaining services restored, but progress is slower as crews focus on individual outages. Although crews have replaced around 30 broken poles so far, there are at least 20 more broken poles needing to be replaced.
The National Weather Service is predicting accumulating snow and ice in the region starting Monday afternoon. PIE&G members should take appropriate precautions as this weather system has potential to cause additional power outages.
