April 9-15, 2018: Natural Gas and Electric Service Workers Appreciation Week
WHEREAS, the professions of natural gas and electric service worker have existed for as long as energy has been a part of modern living; and,
WHEREAS, at a moment’s notice these brave men and women run into storms and face dangerous conditions in order to maintain the energy infrastructure of our country; and,
WHEREAS, serving Michigan for many decades, our natural gas and electric service workers are often the first responders during catastrophic events and the last to go home; and,
WHEREAS, their dedication to ensuring our communities have the safe and reliable power they rely on involves putting their lives on the line; and,
WHEREAS, it is important for Michigan to honor and recognize these men and women for their heroic efforts in keeping our lights on and homes and businesses warm; and,
WHEREAS, we recognize the importance of watching out for these men and women as they work along the roadways;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 9-15, 2018 as Natural Gas and Electric Service Workers Appreciation Week in Michigan.
