Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op Reports Significant Progress in Ice Storm Recovery Efforts
Onaway, MI – April 4, 2025 – Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op (PIE&G) is making significant progress in restoring power following the recent ice storm.
“When the storm first hit, our system was at 100% outage, leaving our members without power. Today, we are proud to say that we have restored service to 40% of our system, and we continue to make strides each hour. The arrival of additional linemen and continued favorable weather conditions are allowing us to accelerate restoration efforts,” said Allan Berg, CEO of PIE&G.
Thanks to the dedication of PIE&G crews and the support of the community, electric service has been restored to 14,128 members—an increase of over 1,200 since last night and a remarkable 6,000 in the past 24 hours. With sunny skies and more crews arriving daily, PIE&G remains optimistic about continued progress.
“We began calling in additional crews as the storm was occurring and they started arriving as early as Sunday morning. With the State of Michigan’s declaration of a state of emergency, additional resources have been made available for us to call upon,” said Berg.
PIE&G extends its deep appreciation to its members for their patience and understanding, as well as to its employees, their families, county emergency crews, and the many external partners who have stepped in to assist. The cooperative remains committed to restoring power as quickly and safely as possible. Members are encouraged to stay safe and informed as restoration efforts continue.
