PIE&G staff and line crews started early again this morning to continue efforts to restore the remaining services that are still out after Thursday’s storm. Gale force winds caused tens of thousands of utility customers across Michigan to be without power for several days. Approximately 22,000 services on PIE&G’s system were out at some point.
A near record 36 broken poles were found. Crews have repaired or replaced 25 of them so far. This evening, PIE&G is working on the approximately 600 outages that remain. These are smaller line outages and individual outages that are located across PIE&G’s nine-county service area. These restorations will take time, as each must be addressed separately by a crew. Some individual repairs will carry over into tomorrow.
PIE&G understands the inconvenience of service interruption, and appreciates its members for their patience and understanding during this catastrophic storm.
PIE&G members should contact PIE&G immediately at (800) 423-6634 to report their power outage or any downed power lines. Stay at least 25 feet away from any downed wires, assume they are energized, and report them immediately to PIE&G or local law enforcement (911).
