Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op (PIE&G) Holds 88th Annual Meeting in Hillman

Onaway, MI – Presque Isle Electric Gas Co-op (PIE&G) conducted its 88th annual meeting on Friday, October 24, in Hillman, Michigan. Board Chair Sandy Borowicz states, “The annual meeting exemplifies cooperative principles in action. Cooperatives are democratic entities governed by their members, each possessing equal voting rights – one member, one vote. Cooperatives operate democratically.”

Every year, elections are conducted to fill three PIE&G Board of Directors positions. Following the tally of all votes, the successful candidates who secured election to three-year terms (2025- 2028) are as follows: Kurt Kranjniak (incumbent, Alpena District), Brent Luckas (incumbent, Alpena District), and Michael Libby (Presque Isle District). The vote count for each candidate is as follows:

Alpena District (two vacancies):

  • Kurt Kranjniak: 2212 votes
  • Brent Luckas: 2163 votes

Presque Isle District (one vacancy):

  • Michael Libby: 1323 votes
  • Ray Wozniak: 1150 votes
  • Cynthia Paavola: 505 votes
  • Toby Kuznicki: 351 votes

There were two proposed amendments to the bylaws. The first one related to qualifications and tenure was approved by a vote of 2729 yes/493 no. The second bylaw amendment related to nominations was approved by a vote of 2746 yes/469 no.

Stephen P. Welch. from Hammond Bay was awarded a $100 bill credit for casting his vote by mail. In addition, members were presented with reports from the cooperative’s Chief Financial Officer, Randy Stempky, and the Chief Executive Officer, Allan Berg.
