9 am Update for Wind Outages

There are approximately 1420 PIE&G services that are without power this morning after Friday’s wind storm.  The gale force winds caused widespread tree and line damage across PIE&G’s nine county service area. Around 500 services that are still predicted out are located on Bois Blanc Island.  PIE&G crews are on the 9 a.m. ferry to restore service to the Island today.

PIE&G made considerable progress yesterday with good weather and the help of five mutual aid line crews and contract tree services. Office staff and crews have been working around the clock this weekend.

There are a large number of individual services out across northeast Michigan.  Each of these require a crew to be sent to each location. Some of these repairs will continue into Monday.

PIE&G extends its sincere appreciation to its members for their patience. Crews are working as quickly as possible to safely restore all services.
