9 am Update for Wind Outages
Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op has now restored approximately 10,340 services with an estimated 6000 services that are without power this morning after gale force winds swept through the area yesterday. The outages affected the entire PIE&G service area with line and tree damage including Bois Blanc Island, Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Montmorency, Oscoda and Otsego counties. Crews have more favorable weather conditions today and will work all weekend to make repairs, remove trees and restore services. So far, crews have found five broken poles. Damage assessment will continue as work progresses today.
PIE&G has additional mutual aid crews from Wolverine Power Cooperative, Bay City Light & Power, Thumb Electric Cooperative and HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative and contract tree cutting services. PIE&G hopes to make much progress today, but some repairs will take longer due to the number of downed trees and broken poles. Some members should be prepared to be without power for several days. Please call for updates or view our outage map at pieg.com.
Please contact PIE&G at 1 (800) 423-6634 to report all power outages or downed power lines. Everyone should use extreme caution and stay away from downed lines until line crews can secure the area.
